Foyle

The news has been pretty bad recently with all the pubs and restaurants closing.

Moville has two hotels, the Foyle with approximately 16 rooms and the Caiseal Mara with approximately 48 rooms.

However, the Foyle has been closed for a few years now and the Caiseal Mara is in receivership and currently closed till March 15th.

It is in a last chance saloon, the staff have been told.

Ghost Town

Currently, Moville is a holiday town without a single hotel bed.

Also, anyone coming to the town during the week and looking for a restaurant meal before Rosatos opens at 5pm wouldn't find a single restaurant, although they could go to the Cosy Cottage, Barron's or the chip shops.

Clearly this is not good.

For Sale

It seems that the Foyle Hotel has been put up for sale.

The only trouble is that Paul O'Keefe, who is supposed to be selling it, can't get in touch with the owner, who is in Australia, and so can't get hold of the keys to show people around.

It would be great to get it back open, for this summer if possible, but at least for next year when Derry's City of Culture is on.

Custer

The cavalry is coming for our hotels, restaurants and pubs with a huge bonanza for them taking place in July.

However, like General Custer, the reinforcements may get here too late.

Let's hope not.
