Foyle Hotel
Moville's Foyle Hotel was closed down last week.
The bailiffs came in and lifted the tills and changed the locks on the doors.
It all came as a complete surprise to the staff.
Shock
After the shock of Moville's biggest restaurant, The Waterfront, burning to the ground now comes the news of one of Moville's only two hotels closing its doors.
The Foyle has 16 rooms as well as a popular restaurant and a lively bar.
It will have a big impact in the town especially when the various festivals come along.
Suffered
Moville suffered greatly when McNamaras closed.
It has now re-opened as Caiseal Mara but just as one opens another closes.
It now puts a further number of part time and full time workers in Moville out of work to add to the 35-40 put out of work at The Waterfront.
A Lot
That's quite a lot in a town with a population of 1,465 and a working population of perhaps half that.
A good guess would be to say that perhaps 10% of Moville's working population have been put out of work with the demise of The Waterfront and Foyle Hotel.
As people around here say, the Celtic Tiger never managed to get up here but Moville is certainly being affected by its departure.
