Rowing Club

Early risers couldn't believe their eyes as they saw rowing boats out on the water.

It was members of the Moville Rowing club who are practising for their row from Scotland to Moville next year.

They were down at Moville pier at 6am on Tuesday.

Shroove

They rowed to Shroove and back in the early hours before going to work.

It took them just under two hours to do the 12 mile row.

That puts them at an average speed of around 6 miles per hour which is about double a good walking pace.

Scotland

The trip from Scotland to Moville will be 40 miles but there will be two crews per boat so it was quite a good work out for it.

Of course, they are not in open waters.

They are very keen and determined to do it.

Social Club

Moville Rowing Club are going from strength to strength.

It gets them all fit and it's a great social club too.

They have a lot of fun and rowed Beatles road manager Tony Bramwell from Greencastle to Moville when he first arrived.
