Trudy McLaughlin
First up I had Trudy McLaughlin contacting me to talk about an appearance on Inishowen Community Radio.
That happened on Monday.
Trudy said that she there was a girls' night out amongst the workers at ICR which coincided with the DylanFest and they had all decided to come to that.
So, look out for them there.
Paul McFadden
Next there was Paul McFadden at Radio Foyle.
I had gone up to be interviewed by him with Paddy McLaughlin for the DylanFest last year.
Paddy give an interesting background to Dylan and his music and the connections with Irish music through the Clancy Brothers and especially Liam Clancy.
This year I thought it would be a good idea to take Eddie Harkin up as he is the joint organiser of the DylanFest and organises the Moville side of things.
Grand Opening
The grand opening of the Festival is on Thursday night at Rosatos where Steph Buhe and James O'Connor and Audrey Trainor will be playing and the DylanFest T Shirts will be unveiled.
I think it went well and I'll post up the link to the interview as soon as I get it.
Paul even played Dylan's song Stuck Inside of Moville (Mobile really) as a fadeout.
Other Shows
When I got back I had a call to be on the Alan Simpson show on Radio Ulster which will take place tonight at 16:50.
I'm also booked to appear on the Caroline Fleck show on Downtown Radio at 12:15 on Thursday.
Mark Paterson, from Radio Foyle, just called.
He wants me to come up to Derry at 15:30 on Friday to talk about the DylanFest.
Striking Fear
He said we can talk about my encyclopaedic knowledge of Dylan.
That scared me.
Perhaps I'd better bring Local teacher Paddy McLaughlin along.
Hopefully that should get more people coming up for the DylanFest.
No Dave
No call from Dave Fanning this year though, yet.
Perhaps it was because it was the first ever one in Ireland last year that I got on it.
Still, we're doing pretty well as far as radio shows are concerned.
The Press
I wonder if we are doing as well as far as the non-local newspapers are concerned.
I sent the Press releases out but the newspapers tend not to get back to you and say whether they printed it or not.
One reporter from the Evening Herald, which I think is a Dublin newspaper, did get in touch.
Strabane
I did send something out to a Strabane newspaper (amongst others) and a guy from Strabane got in touch with me yesterday asking if he could play at the DylanFest.
So, perhaps the news IS getting out.
Stop Press:- Matk Paterson called back and said that as I was on the Paul McFadden show I couldn't go on his show as they don't cover the same people.
However, he said that if The Plea (who are playing at the festival) call him they can go on instead.
