Drip, Drip, Drip....

Thaw

Even at 9:30am on Boxing Day morning you could see the difference from the night before when I came home.

There's a steady drip, drip, drip as the thaw sets in.

For today and tomorrow temperatures are not due to get above 4 degrees before hitting 8 degrees for the next few days - but that already seems enough to do the trick as the thaw seems to have set in during the night.

Puddle

At the bottom of the town just as you turn the corner to go to Centra or Derry there is a huge big puddle.

The snow and ice seem to be mostly off the road at least at this end of the Derry Road.

You're more likely to acquaplane today.

Surprised

Of course, it is going to take several days for the snow all to depart but I am surprised how quickly the thaw has set in.

This is the danger time for pedestrians in Moville as the snow and the icicles are going to be falling off roofs in loud clatters.

This is the time to take care.

Derry

You wouldn't want to be hit by a huge big block of ice falling off a three storey roof.

The birds will be delighted as they will be able to feed themselves again from the ground.

People can go and do their shopping again in Derry - especially with the January sales coming up.

And you don't have to go out and keep pouring hot water over the gas cylinder and pipes just so you can cook the dinner.
