Donegal Council

Donegal County Council recently recommended in their 2011 Budget Book that Car Parking charges should be introduced in Moville to help fund other projects in Donegal.

They intend to implement this if they can.

Local Councillor Martin Farren is up in arms about this and has promised to bring the matter up at a meeting of the Electoral Committee on January 18th.

Flow of Traffic

In other towns where this has been implemented it has been done to help free up the flow of traffic.

However, there is no problem in Moville in this regard.

It would be purely a money making exercise to extract extra cash from the people of Moville and its visitors and the money raised wouldn't necessarily be spent in Moville.

It could be spent anywhere in Donegal.

Bad Idea

This sounds like a very bad idea.

Let's hope that Martin can convince the rest of the council that it is a bad idea.

Moville people have enough to pay for without having to pay to park their cars outside their own houses.
