Disaster for Moville's DylanFest

DylanFest

I got an email today from Mickey "The Hat" Roberts today.

He lives in North Wales and has played at the last two DylanFests in Moville as well as the last three in Manchester.

Limerick

It said "Don't know if you are aware but Dylan is supposed to be playing in Limerick on the Sunday of the DylanFest weekend.

"Don't know if this is good timing or not for the Dylanfest but it may be worth advertising for anyone going to Limerick to make a weekend out of it and attend Moville on the Friday and Saturday.

Not sure how good the travelling will be from Moville to Limerick on the Sunday though."

Disaster

I wasn't sure exactly where Limerick was but I knew it wasn't anywhere near here.

Sure enough it was way past Dublin (which takes long enough) and way past Galway.

What a disaster!

Real Thing

Surely Dylan fans will want to see the real thing rather than coming to our DylanFest.

Even the Dylan afficionados in Moville will take themselves off to Limerick.

Of all the weekends he could have chosen to play his only gig in Ireland this year it had to be on the same weekend of the DylanFest.

Worse

It could have been worse, I suppose.

It could have been on the Saturday.

I don't suppose that a whole lot of Dylan fans down the country are going to track all the way up to Moville for the Friday and Saturday and then make the long trek to Limerick on the Sunday.

There's probably not even a bus on the Sunday.

Difficult to Change

It would be very difficult for me to change the weekend now.

For one thing I've had 10,000 flyers printed about it.

They would be redundant.

Pocketed

People visiting Moville have picked them up and put them in their pockets.

I've also put the dates on quite a few websites and some of those websites send the dates out to other websites so it would be hard to find out which and get them changed.

I know some people have already booked their accommodation in Moville for the DylanFest.

I met some of them who came up to Moville over Christmas.

Oxegen

If I moved it back a week it would then clash with Oxegen.

I couldn't anyway as my daughter is getting married in Philadelphia on July 10th.

She's kind of expecting me to be there.

Shame

It's a shame about the clash of dates.

If the gig in Limerick had been before the DylanFest in Moville I could have gone down and given out loads of flyers for the Moville one.

I can't believe it!

It's very bad luck.

Needed Luck

It's the year that Moville could have done with a bit of luck too.

I was putting an extra special effort into this year's DylanFest on the Lough.

I'll have to consider what to do.
