Death Trap
Movillians are no longer used to taking care of themselves when there is a huge snowfall.
Movillians of yesteryear, when snow fell more regularly, would know more what to do.
They know how to drive carefully in it (well most of them) but not how to behave as pedestrians.
Danger
I remember, when as a child in Greenock going to school after a snowfall, that my mother would tell me either to walk on the outside of the pavements or right against the wall as there was a danger from snow or ice falling off the roof.
Moville has a whole heap of snow and ice hanging on the roofs at the moment.
One young guy yesterday was standing at the door of his house and had just moved away when not just the snow and ice from the roof but the metal guttering tumbled down where he had just been standing.
Two seconds was all that stood between him and probable death.
Icicles
It's not just the snow and the ice on the foof but huge big pointed icicles are dangling from there as well.
Some of them are more like stalactites than icicles.
Those walking about Moville should take my mother's advice and not walk in any spot where snow from roofs can fall on them.
Trouble Brewing
There's a huge amount of snow and ice going to fall off roofs in the next few days.
It's already been happening and I'm sure that some of you have heard almighty bangs from inside or outside of your house.
There's a tendency here when a visitor is departing to stand just outside the door chatting to them for a few minutes.
That's not wise unless you move away from the door.
Trigger
Make sure, also that you don't bang the door as you leave the house.
That could be just the trigger that brings down the snow, ice, icicles and maybe the guttering too.
There's already enough danger on the roads.
Be Safe
Movillians should take care not just on the roads but when they are walking around the town as well.
They are going to hear some almight bangs over the next few days as the snow and ice fall from the roofs.
They should make sure that there is no way that they will be under one of them when it happens.
