Shore Walk
I read a letter in a local newspaper this week complaining about the number of bottles and cans on the shore walk in Moville.
I have a theory about that but I'll leave that for another time.
However, on my shore walk yesterday I saw a dead sheep lying on the shore.
Dead Goat
I was passing a neighbour who told me that there was a dead goat nearby and a headless cat too.
This is down just before you get to Lafferty's Lane.
"What's going on?" I thought.
Why have they all appeared at the one time?
Residents
What do the residents get up to after dark when the shore walkers have all gone?
Perhaps that's why part of the walk remains shut even though no work has been going on at the Greencastle harbour for a long time.
Goats have always been connected to the devil in mythology.
According to Wikipedia "In Ancient Egypt, at the temple in Mendes, the goat was viewed as the incarnation of the god of procreation".
Cats
Cats, in mythology, have always been associated with witches and witchcraft.
There was a newsworthy case recently when a headless cat was left at a house as a death threat.
It comes just before the residents there have their final throw of the dice in the High Court to try and get the plans for the Sewage Treatment Plant at Carnagarve scrapped.
Innocent
Now, I'm sure that there is a perfectly innocent explanation for all of this.
But if I was a member of the board of An Bord Pleanala, just to be on the safe side, it might not be a good idea to take a shore walk just as it is getting dark.
