Cecilia Keaveney
Local Senator, Cecilia Keaveney, who is a classically trained violin player, is to play the Moville TradFest on February 26th.
She is expected to join in with the performers at Rosatos and also join Paddy McLaughlin's at Rawdons on the Friday night of the TradFest.
Her sister Joan, who played at the Confirmations on Sunday, may join her if she is available.
Arts Tourism
Cecilia is a music teacher by profession and is a keen proponent of the idea that there is a big future in Arts Tourism in Inishowen.
Said Cecilia "As a musician I know the fun there is in performing. It can be exhilarating for both those who play and those who listen.
"Sessions maximise that opportunity as musical ideas can 'bounce around the room', and participants are free to interpret and add to them.
"Indeed, if the premises is large enough the music inspires others to 'bounce around the room' as they dance in interpretation to the music and that adds to the overall setting.
"For the smaller premises - well, 'bouncing around the room' is less of an option but it is not easy to stop nature so here's to all those who feel they can contain themselves over TradFest and those who know they're ready for a blast of the 'present from the past'."
Fun Night
It should be a great fun night at Rawdons.
Paddy always encourages anyone who can play to bring along their instrument and join in.
Rosatos and the Bar-A-Cuda are also encouraging anyone who can play to come along and join in the fun.
It should be a great start to the festival.
