Bonanza Time

It's been a bad downturn and many of the businesses in the area have gone out of business.

We are down to just 7 pubs in Moville now and just one hotel, the Caiseal Mara, which is in receivership but still going.

However, the Cavalry will arrive for many Moville and Greencastle businesses in late June early July.

Golf

First of all it was announced that the Irish Open golf championships will be held in Portrush from June 28th to July 1st.

Already the Caiseal Mara and Redcastle Hotel have taken a massive amount of bookings for that weekend as soon as it was announced.

Also, that weekend the yachts from the 3rd last leg of the Round-the-World-Clipper Challenge will be coming in after the transatlantic leg from Nova Scotia.

It is also the traditional weekend for the DylanFest on the Lough.

Clipper Race

On the following weekend the 2nd last leg of the Clipper Race will start from Greencastle at 5pm on Saturday the 7th of July.

On both the weekends we are going to put on the best of the music from the DylanFest, BeatlesFest and TradFest as well as a lot of the local acts.

As there will be people about during the week we are also going to put music on during that week.

Thousands

We don't know how many people are coming for the Clipper Challenge but it will be in the thousands and maybe even the tens of thousands.

Waterford had 350,000 extra visitors for the Tall Ships race last year and Greenock had 500,000 extra visits during its leg with 50,000 extra train journeys from Glasgow alone.

It could be a stampede of spending visitors in the early summer.

Wall of Money

One local businessman reckoned what he took in that week would keep him going for 4 years.

Many local businesses will get a huge cash injection that could wipe away many of theur debts and pay off their creditors - if they can convince them to wait till then.

A massive wave of money is about to hit the town.

Let's hope we can pepare properly to take advantage of it.
