Raft Race
One of the most popular events in the Moville Calendar, the Raft Race, drew a big crowd to Moville pier despite what is called here a 'soft day'.
The rain wasn't bucketing down, so no one got a soaking, but there was persistent light drizzle and it was overcast.
Despite that the people turned out in big numbers at any vantage point they could get to see the Raft Race.
Birds' Eye View
They were on the pier, on the rocks beside the pier, on the old pier, on the slipway and a good number perched high up on Bath Green by Montgomery Terrace where they got a birds' eye view of the proceedings.
The race itself was dominated by two rafts who rowed far clear of the rest.
The winning crew are in the photograph above.
Some of them immediately dived into the water when they heard the finishing gun.
On a day like that, though, the smart ones remained on the raft.
All Girl Crew
Coming in 3rd was an all-girl crew, who won the Ladies Race and who were well clear of the others too.
It was a convincing performance by them.
Poor Weather
It's just a shame that they couldn't have got better weather for it as it has been for some time now one of the highlights of all the Events and Festivals in Moville.
The presentations for the different categories took place in the Corner Bar afterwards.
