A young local mother and her two young children are behind this ‘move-a-thon’ happening right here in the village on Saturday 23rd November at St. Mary’s Hall. It is an opportunity to promote positive mental health through exercise and moving.

Valerie lost her husband to suicide and is now trying to raise awareness of the need for more talk and interaction among people about mental health, and among men in particular. With two young sons, this brave local lady says she had two choices in the aftermath of her husbands death: sink or swim. She choose to swim. Part of her swim is now helping promote the importance of postive mental well being in our community.

On Saturday week, Locomotion NW are going to be present from 12 noon to 12.30 pm to do hula hooping and ribbon dancing. There will also be facepainting and some colouring activities set up etc. Refreshments and some light food (traybakes, sandwiches) will be provided throughout the day.

There are three times slots available: from 1pm to 2pm; 2pm to 3pm, and 3pm to 4pm. With Zumba by Kasia, Fitness by Zest and then Yoga with Just Be, or Feel Free Tai Chi. The idea behind the event is to promote positive mental health through exercise. And try to take away some of the stigma around suicide and mental health. The idea is to have fun and no prior experience is necessary to participate on the day.

Cost to take part on the day is just €10. Do come along on the day and help support this most worthy cause.
