It certainly is that time of year again. That time when our wee village comes alive (yes it’s always alive, but even more so on August Bank Holiday weekend). This year sees the 39th annual festival here in Muff.
The weekend gets off to a kicking start on Thursday evening with the Junior McConnellogue football match. Then Friday sees the opening parade commence through the village at 7pm. Following this there is a host of events happening right through until Monday night. There really is something for everyone.
Friday night will also see our new Mayor elected – who will it be? Huge thanks must surely go out to our departing Mayor, Niamh McColgan who has been a fantastic ambassador for the village over the past two years. Cheers Niamh. Cathal or Majella you have big boots to fill!!!!
Friday night also sees the introduction of a new event – The King of Muff. Do you have what it takes to be our King? It’s a very sought after title worldwide, so this really could give you world fame? And of course it will sort the men from the boys on Friday night!
An open air concert is also taking place on Friday night from 8pm at our newly opened in the past year The Treehouse Bar & Restaurant. Between The Treehouse and The Squealing Pig there is a host of musical entertainment to suit everyone throughout the entire weekend. So do get along and hear it.

Added to this there’s a return to the 90’s with the Rave in The Cave at Squealing Pig carpark. Check out the programme for a full listing of what all is happening from tomorrow onwards. There really is something for everyone.
And of course there’s the weather. Don’t let a little rain (fingers crossed there’ll be none) dampen any spirits. There’s wellies and raincoats in everyones cupboards, so get them at the ready just in case. No excuse not to come out and participate in what is very much a community weekend ahead.
A lot of organisation has gone into preparing for this weekend and a lot of help will be needed over the weekend to make it a success. Do offer a little of your time if possible. Village clean-ups are happening each morning to ensure the village is kept tidy and all help will be appreciated.
Here’s wishing the village and all who live and visit it this coming weekend a few days filled with fun, togetherness and true community spirit. Yeah, it’s Muff Festival 2019.
