Saturday celebrations at The Workshop Coffee Co.
This was no ordinary Saturday afternoon, when one does the weekly shop, or the weekly housework or such. This was very much a Saturday with a difference. One to celebrate the 1st birthday of The Workshop Coffee Co. in the village. Yes, it really is a whole year since the heart of the village came alive – with coffee!
Earlier this afternoon Edward and Shane Doherty invited their customers and indeed the community as a whole, to come along and help them celebrate being one year old. Throughout the afternoon there was a range of delicious food given out – those little meringues were just divine I might add! And there was music, song and dance. Keenan and Maria were superb with a great selection of music. Mind you I must admit, Bryan Adams’ Heaven stole it for me. Young and old danced the afternoon away. And then some like myself and gang, lazed on the comfy chairs sipping coffee – we did eventually move on to the lemonade!
Siobhan and her face-painting skills were also in residence for the afternoon. Thank’s to Siobhan’s artistic talents a new craze has been created – coffee cup artwork on one’s cheek!!! The idea of coffee shop frequent visitor, Louise!
Edward and Shane as always catered for everyone. The car-park was partially transformed into a ‘children’s area’ this afternoon. The little ones had lots of inflatables to keep them entertained.
Today showcased the importance of having such a hub in the village. Somewhere people can come along and meet, drink coffee and eat. Somewhere to escape the real world when needed. The Workshop Coffee Co. provides a haven for all. Whatever your reason to visit, you’re just never disappointed.
Today showcased the importance of community spirit. Not only was it a celebration and a birthday party, but it also helped raise funds for those affected in last week’s floods. And of course, one lucky lady won ‘free coffee for a year’ – and NO it wasn’t me!!
So as today draws to a close, it’s with a spring in our step (that’ll be the coffee), and memories of a lovely year thanks to this new addition in the village.
As the night draws near, I think it might be the perfect excuse to venture across the road from The Workshop and visit the local, The Squealing Pig, and continue the birthday celebrations there…..and off we doth go….Luke, mine’s a Guinness……
Happy Birthday The Workshop Coffee Co.
