Local school teacher achieves ‘Quadrathon’ success
She’s well known for running the roads of the village and beyond, but over the past weekend local school teacher, Johanne McColgan conquered more than just the local roads with her running feet. Johanne alongside many other runners a
nd walkers completed four half marathons in just four days. Johanne crossed the finish line yesterday around lunchtime at Redcastle hotel with a smile on her face.
I had been following Johanne’s runs on her facebook page and then succeeded in seeing her run through the village of Muff yesterday morning on her way to completing her four half marathons in just four days. What amazed me was not only her determination to meet such a personal challenge, but her effort as she ran through our village and took time to say ‘hello’ and even ‘high five’ two local children. Now that was no mean feat, whilst in the middle of a fourth 13 mile run in just four days.
As Johanne crossed that finish line at Redcastle hotel, it really was a pleasure to cheer her along. Even though I still think she’s totally mad.
Huge congrats also to Johannes sister-in-law and local lady Roisín McColgan on completion of the same quatrathon. Clearly she’s just as mad as Johanne.
Super well done ladies and you both really are an inspiration to the community in which you live and work.
Whatever can be next for these two, I’m scared to even wonder!!!
Both ladies were part of the Extreme North Quatrathon Challenge https://www.facebook.com/extremenorthevents/
