BeatlesFest on the Lough 2017 is on
BeatlesFest Moville
Ireland’s only annual BeatlesFest will take place in Moville from August 4th to 7th.
It is the 11th annual running of the event.
The first two years were reasonably good but it really took off in 2009 with the Sick and Indigent Song Club coming to town and doing great gigs in both The Town Clock and in Rosatos. Indeed their gig in Rosatos was rated the Gig of the Year in Moville by some people.
2010 was great too. That was the year that Beatles road manager Tony Bramwell came to the BeatlesFest for the first time. he has been back for the 2011 and 2012 BeatlesFests too. He came for the DylanFest in 2011 as well and for the Songwriter Contests in November 2011 and April 2013.
He told local journalist, Katie Barr, that he loves Moville and its people (and Rosatos and its Guinness). He told here that his three favourite places in the world were Hawaii, Nashville and Moville – and he’s seen a few places. For more information on Tony Bramwell see Tony Bramwell
2011 saw it really hit great heights with great performances from The Cavernites from Liverpool, Candlestick Park from Glasgow, Neil Tudor from The Wirral and The Modests from Glasgow. 2012 went to even greater heights.
Here’s an interview done that year. See BeatlesFest on the Lough
2012 saw Mick Dunne from Dublin play the BeatlesFest on the Lough. He was so good that many people thought he was using a tape loop as backing as, when he plays, it somehow sounds like 2 or 3 people are playing. he played the Cavern in Liverpool at Beatles Week there.
2013 saw Mick Dunne return again and played some great gigs. Perhaps the highlight was the Saturday night gig in Rosatos by Michael Thomas. Here is a short clip from it – Michael Thomas Live at Rosatos .
BeatlesFest on the Lough 2015
In 2015 it took place from the Thursday night to the Monday in the pubs in Moville & Greencastle.
BeatlesFest 2016
It went down treat with thatgreat 4-piece ban Dahlia playing.
BeatlesFest 2017
This is the 11th BeatlesFest in Moville and we are expecting an even bigger one than before.
