Sparrows, Swallows and Swifts Plentiful This Year in Moville
Sparrows, Swallows, Swifts in Moville
I remember a few years ago my father saying that there used to be lots of sparrows in Moville, and, while there were still a few, they were not there in the numbers they used to be.
Numbers increased last year but this year has been a real bonanza year for them.
Young sparrows are everywhere this year.
There are plenty of them in our garden.
I don’t know what caused their numbers to fall but they are back with a vengeance this year.
Also, back in great numbers this year are swallows and swifts.
There are dozens of swifts flying around our backyard which leads onto the lough.
Up at the Pitch and Putt course in Cooley there are plenty of swallows flying about.
It seems to have been a bumper year for wildlife around Moville – although I haven’t seen as many butterflies this year.
