August Festivals in Moville

There is a veritable feast of festivals in Moville and Greencastle this August.

It kicks off next weekend with the BeatlesFest on the Lough. This is the 11th annual BeatlesFest here and it is Ireland’s only annual festival of Beatles music.

Festival visitors are asked to wear Sixties gear if they can. Perhasp the Charity Shops might have some – although there has been a Sixties revival in recent years.

Greencastle Regatta

The following weekend it is the marvellous Greencastle Regatta.

What a great success that has become over the years with some great bands culminating in a fantastic firework display.

It has got bigger and bigger every year.

Foyle, Fish and Folk

This takes place in Moville on the third weekend of the month.

It is a new replacement for the old Sea Angling Week and Moville Summer Festival both of which disappeared.

They have some great music acts and activities.

Stuck Inside of Moville

Rounding off the season of festivals is the highly popular DylanFest on the Lough.

It’s on the last weekend of the month, the bank holiday weekend in the North.

It attracts visitors from all over the world.

After August

You should get out and see some of the festivals because when the DylanFest is over Moville falls off a cliff.

There’s only Halloween between now and Christmas after that.

So, there will be plenty of time to sit at home on a weekend night then.
