McGonigal and Dillon Festival Programme of Events

Friday

From 3pm: Come Gather Round People in Corner Bar in Moville.

It is on the first corner as you come into town.

Some will stay there and some will leave to eat at some of the fine restaurants in town.

From 9:30pm: Quiz in Rosato’s Pub, followed by Open Mic Night.

The McGonigal / Dillon clan will take over the evening and showcase their musical abilities.

 

Saturday to Derry

10.45am – Bus depart Greencastle (Kealy’s) and Moville (Maud’s), picking up at Redcastle (Post Office)

11.30am – Arrive in Derry at Foyle Street.

Option One

  • Watch Celtic v Rangers game, at Gweedore / Peadar O’Donnell’s bar in Waterloo Street.
    For those who want to remain in the bar, there is an Irish band playing after the match.

Option Two

2.35pm – Meet Outside Free Derry Museum    http://www.museumoffreederry.org/

3.45pm – Bogside, view murals, Free Derry corner and scene of Bloody Sunday massacre.

4.15pm Checkpoint Charlie Souvenirs at Waterloo Street – Meet Tony Doherty author of ‘This Man’s Wee Boy’ who will sign copies of his book and chat to us. https://www.mercierpress.ie/irish-books/this-man-s-wee-boy/

5.15pm – Bus back home to Moville and Greencastle from Foyle Street.

10pm – Two piece Country act in Rosato’s then off to Country and Western Hoe Down in the Sean Ti in Greencastle . (Dress in country and western style for this).

 

Alternative Saturday

3pm – Pitch and Putt at Cooley in Moville. Those who go to Derry can come and join the others when they come back.

Sit inside, or outside Rosato’s if it is a good day and have an acoustic session.

10pm – Two piece Country Act in Rosato’s then off to Country and Western Hoe Down in the Sean Ti in Greencastle. (Dress in country and western style for this).

 

Sunday

10:00am – Beautiful walk along the shore from Moville (meeting at Maud’s) walking to the fishing village of Greencastle and back. Angie McLaughlin’s husband, Raven, an award winning documentary maker, describes it as one of his three favourite walks in the whole world.

People can meet us in Greencastle and walk back to Moville if they do not want to walk both straits.

Noon – Barbecue at the River Row at the Lough. Eat, Drink, Sing and be merry. Bring as much food and drink as you wish.

A group photo of the McGonigal / Dillon clan will take place there, followed by saying goodbye to the Sunday leavers.

3:00pm – Bus tour of locations in Inishowen (to be decided).

Those that don’t want to go, can sit inside or outside Rosatos if it is a good day and can have an acoustic session.

10pm – Live Music at Rosatos from our good friend Paddy the Shoe and our own musical talent.
