Last night saw one of Donegal’s most promising up and coming Country Music stars take to the stage in the new Marquee at Muff Community Park. And boy did he take to that stage!
James is just 18 years old and has been playing nationwide for the past 3 years now. And just last week his new single ‘My Donegal Doll’ reached no. 1 in the Irish Country charts. We really did have a little piece of musical genius in the village last night.
And on a more personal level, I went along simply to support the park. A self-confessed rock chick and trad fan, I don’t do the country scene. But alas David James might just have swung it for me last night. Popping in for just half an hour, it was well after 11pm on my departure. As was my sister and my Dad. This boy is set to soar.
And it was not just the music and talent of this young man that made last night a little bit special, it was our local youth. To say they were great dancers would be such an understatement. These kids excelled on the dance floor. From jiving, to line dancing, these kids had it all. Confidence and competence shone on that floor last night. And youth was at the fore. Everyone was remarking them. Twinkle toes will never twinkle again unless these kids are around.
Now where is the nearest dance class, cos a few of us mature heads really need to pop along.
