Local girl Jade Diver is at present preparing for her biggest adventure to date. In June of this year the young lady heads off in a ‘volunteer’ capacity to Fiji for two months. Whilst there she will be living with a Fijian family and participating in a building project, teaching and coaching children, and helping rebuild a community. The island of Batiki, Fiji was completely destroyed earlier this year thanks to cyclone Wynston. The only building left standing was the church. Help is desperately needed. Jade is going to be a very big part of that help.
To help fundraise for her trip and bring some much needed funds to the island, Jade is currently raising awareness locally with a number of events. She told me recently:
“I have a few fundraising events coming up … so save the date please. All donations welcome and much appreciated.” The following are happening in the local area:
Tea & Coffee morning @ Greenbank Hall on 30April from 11-2.
Stars In Their Eyes night @ The Squealing Pig on 20thMay.
A few spaces still for contestants so if you fancy bringing out your inner superstar contact Jade via her facebook page, or pm on the ‘craicon Muff fb page’!
There is also a number of hampers floating around Muff/ Quigleys Point – Muff Border Cafe, Post Office and Callaghans bar (Quigleys Point). These may be moved around over the coming days and weeks. There is a cleaning hamper / pamper hamper & deluxe tea hamper. If you see one of these hampers on your next outing, why not buy a line and help this cyclone destroyed island. And help Jade make a difference.
Anyone willing to make a cash donation can do so via paypal using Jades email: [email protected]
