Like many locals, I venture into the local butchers on a weekly basis and it has become a social occasion as opposed to a shopping expedition. There’s always a friendly chat with Thomas and I’ve even been made a cup of coffee on occasion. And I do recall that home made scone and jam one day also. Alas that will be no more.
Conor take heed, and ensure that kettle continues to boil!
Our much loved, ever respected local Butcher for many years is set to hang up his ‘knives’ next week. Thomas will make his last steak burger, cut his last round of beef, string his last sausage next Wednesday.
Thomas has been the local butcher for many years now in the village and if one doesn’t know ‘Thomas the butcher’ then one isn’t really from Muff!
Conor, Thomas’ son will continue with the family business and no doubt wee Harry will be behind that counter before long.
But for now, our Thomas is taking his love of the bicycle a step further. He plans a wee jaunt every day and not just when he fancies a pint of the ‘black stuff’ down the road. OH yes, Mrs McColgan, it was never for the exercise, it was always for a pint. He assures me that from next Thursday morning onwards, the cycling will be purely exercise.
Here’s wishing Thomas a long and happy retirement and every good wish for the future.
Cheers Thomas for all the service.
