Marie Lindsay – School Principal of the Year
Our very own (Muff’s very own that is) Marie Lindsay, on Friday night last, won School Principal of the Year at The Foyle Blackboard Awards in Derry. Aisling Events alongside Danske Bank hosted the 1st Annual Foyle Blackboard Awards. These celebrate the leading educationalists in Derry and honour the best of its primary and post primary schools.
The winners are chosen by parents, the local community and members of the educational fraternity.
Principals, teachers and classroom assistants were honoured at a celebratory dinner in St Columb’s Hall, which highlighted the hard work and accomplishments of the leading educationalists and their crucial role in transforming lives in Derry.
Marie Lindsay has been principal of St. Mary’s College Derry since 2006. Her hard work and dedication to her job are evident in everything she does.
Here in Muff we know her as Marie…or even Marie and Collie…or Collie and Marie…it’s not possible really to name one without the other! Such is the partnership of these two.
Marie is hugely respected by all her pupils and staff alike. I’ve only had the good fortune to visit St. Mary’s on one occasion to date and I was met with a very warm welcome on arrival. Every girl I met had a huge smile on their face and clearly very happy in their school environment. There’s something very special about the overall feeling in this school.
As I write this a special Assembly is being held at St. Mary’s congratulating Marie on this tremendous achievemnt. Unfortunatley I was unable to attend but know it will be one to remember.
Marie has said that “I am blessed with super staff and pupils.”
I think it’s fair to say that these super staff and pupils are equally blessed with an amazing lady at the helm. Marie Lindsay is a very wise and very inspirational lady for everyone who has the pleasure of coming in contact with her. A very family orientated lady, the girl’s of St. Mary’s really are an extended part of that family.
Huge congrats Marie from everyone in your home village of Muff.
