Cooley Pitch and Putt Course Record Goes Again
Cooley Pitch and Putt
For 12 years the 18-hole Cooley Pitch and Putt course record stood at 53 – which is one under par for the course.
A couple of months back it was finally broken by Gerry McLaughlin who shot a 52. he had six 2’s in his round. He repeated that score twice again in the coming weeks.
Yesterday (Friday) he finally broke the course record again. He shot a 51. Indeed he had an 8 foot putt at the last for a 50 but missed it just right.
During the round Gerry hit the flagpole on one hole, hit the flag on another, left one tee shot just two feet from the hole and another tee shot just three inches from the hole. Two more rolls would have taken it in.
Cooley Course Record
Said Gerry, I haven’t scored close to the record recently so that came out of the blue. Indeed that was my second round yesterday. In the first one I hit 61 – despite a hole-in-one at the first hole”.
Yes, the pitch and putt course at Cooley is still open. There’s going to be a good spell of weather over the next week so it’s an opportunity to get up there and play before it closes for the year.
Said Gerry “Apologies for telling you all this but I had to tell someone. My daughter showed not the slightest interest. She didn’t appear to think that this was an important event at all. At least my son told his pal”.
