Moville Festival of Foyle, Fish and Folk

The first Moville Festival, rising from the ashes of the now defunct Sea Angling Week, Moville Summer Festival and Lighthouse Festival, will take place this weekend.

Moville folk will be glad to hear it as they still talk fondly of the old Sea Angling Week and Moville Summer Festival.

The Moville Festival’s subtitle is Foyle, Fish and Folk so that you get the flavour of it.

SeaFood in Moville’s Bars and Restaurants

There’s no longer any sea angling possible as part of it but you there will be seafood in many of the bars and restaurants of the town.

Moville folk, and their visitors, will be delighted to know that there will be live music in the main square of the town on Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.

Playing there on the Sunday afternoon will be the highly acclaimed and nationally famous Crystal Swing with a mammy, son and daughter combination.

Playing on the Friday night will be Keltic Knights which should get the Moville Festival into the swing of things.

On the Saturday night will be the popular Rea Family along with Patricia Fearns.

Moville Festival Fringe Events

There will be a number of what they call ‘fringe’ events on Saturday which includes the 5K Run and walk, the Bonny Baby Competition and the Walkabout Treasure Hunt.

It should be a great weekend.

Let’s hope the sun shines on us for the music in the square. They are very brave having outside music this year, with the summer we have had, and let’s hope it pays off for them.

It is being organised by the St Patrick’s Day committee, who do such a great job on St Patrick’s Day with the parade etc.
