Live Music in Moville

Sometimes, when the Greencastle Regatta has been on, some Moville pubs have bowed to the inevitable and skipped their Saturday night live music, thinking that it would be a waste of time and that everyone would be in Greencastle.

Not this year!

There’s a strong line-up of music in Moville tonight in the pubs.

Perhaps they are thinking that many Movillians would have gone, last night, to see The Yetis and Spring Tides and may decide to stay in town tonight – especially with the weather hit or miss.

The Clock

The Clock, which looks as if it is turning itself around as a music venue, are bringing a great band all the way from Fermanagh called Atticus Finch.

Atticus Finch is the leading character in Harpur Lee’s classic book To Kill a Mocking Bird.

There is unlikely to be any mocking tonight.

It’s great to see the hard work and the gambles that The Clock have taken are now paying off in spades.

Rosatos have got one of their top acts tonight in The Decibellas who represented Moville so proudly in Dublin in TG4’s Busker Abu contest.

They came 2nd of 8 in their heat just missing out on a split judges verdict of 2-1 for the winning place. THey got robbed in my humble opinion.

The Decibellas Debbie has been away in Spain all summer and so Antonio Rea has joined Geraldine and Aaron while she has been away.

With Debbie now back in town it will be interesting to see if it is she or Antonio who will be co-starring with the Decibellas tonight.

Debbie and Geraldine do some great harmonies but Antonio has been an able substitute while Debbie has been away.

Annie’s Bar

Annie’s have the popular Maria McCormack playing in the front bar and they have DJ Pajo in the back.

Annie’s Bar have done a lot for live music in the town with live music on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays – the only bar in town to, normally, have music on all three nights.

Caiseal Mara

The Caiseal Mara Hotel have John Collins from Carndonagh playing tonight. They rave about him down there.

The Corner Bar usually have a Country act on during Saturday nights, Rawdons usually have live music and Maguires usually have a DJ.

Will everyone go to Greencastle, again, tonight or will a substantial number stay in town to see the strong acts performing in Moville?

We shall see!

There’s some good acts in Greencastle, tonight, but it is nice to have a choice.
