Join Swinging Sixties in Moville This Weekend
Swinging Sixties
Moville’s BeatlesFest on the Lough organisers have called on local people and visitors alike to participate in the sixties festival.
Many top acts have been booked but organisers want it to be a participatory festival.
Said organiser Gerry McLaughlin “Most people who play the guitar can play at least one or two Beatles songs. There will be plenty of opportunities for people who are not officially on the Programme of Events to play.
“We have Open Mics on Saturday and Sunday afternoons / early evenings but we also have designated Busker Spots outside the pubs who are taking part in the festival where people can play anytime.
“All they need to do is bring along their guitar, find a spot and play some Beatles tunes or other tunes related to the period. I’m sure no one would complain if they sung a few Oasis songs as they are heavily Beatles influencedâ€.
Sixties Gear
The organisers would also like festival attendees to get into the spirit of the festival and wear Sixties Gear. Said Gerry “If they don’t have anything, they can ask their mothers or fathers or grandparents, or they might find something in the local Charity shops.
“However, I’m told that the Sixties is ‘in’ as regards women’s fashion so local girls might have something in their wardrobes anywayâ€.
The festival is taking place from Thursday July 30th to Sunday August 2nd in Rosatos, Annie’s Bar, Caiseal Mara Hotel and The Clock in Moville and in the Redcastle Hotel.
