Irish DylanFest

Stuck Inside of Moville, the DylanFest on the Lough, will take place this year from August 27th to 30th. It is Ireland’s only annual DylanFest.

It will take place in the picturesque town of Moville in County Donegal, Ireland. Donegal is the northernmost county of Ireland.

It is actually part of the Republic of Ireland but is north of Northern Ireland. Moville lies on the shores of the salmon-filled Lough Foyle just 18 miles of the major city Derry / Londonderry.

Acts from All Over Europe

There will be acts coming from all over Europe to play, including probably Europe’s top Dylan act, Al Diesan, from Sardinia in Italy.

Sharing top spot on the bill will be Bobby Does Dylan from Scotland. Bobby played at the Oran Mor, one of Scotland’s most prestigious venues, last year.

There will be 4 days of Dylan music, inside and outside, and most of the bars in the town will put on live Dylan music.

Moville is one of a series of DylanFests across Europe, with further DylanFests in Manchester, Berlin, Milan and Eindhoven.

Biggest DylanFest

Stuck Inside of Moville has now become the biggest DylanFest in Europe. It is the only one that takes place over four days, the only one in multiple venues and the only one that takes place both indoors and outside in the streets.

Said organiser Gerry McLaughlin, “basically the whole town is given over for 4 days to Bob Dylan and his music. It’s like an annual reunion of like-minded Dylan fans from all over Europe and further afield too”.

It starts off with Come Gather Round People Night on the Thursday finishing on the Sunday with No Direction Home night. All the nights and days are named after Dylan songs and lyrics.

It takes place the same weekend as Moville’s Regatta Weekend, so the waters of Lough Foyle will be filled as well as the town of Moville. There will be plenty for Dylan fans to see and do.
