A Creative Writing Summer Camp will run in Muff from Monday 13th July – Friday 17th July. This week is aimed at 9 – 12 year olds and will encourage the development and use of language skills throughout the week.
The days will be filled with words, reading, talking, exploring, and finally expressing language on paper. Short Story composition, Poetry Composition, Haiku Composition and more will be covered throughout the week.
I hope to encourage the children to think ‘outside the box’ when it comes to using their imagination. At leaving cert level a youth must be able to think critically in terms of literature to analyse a writer and his/her work. Throughout this week of summer camp I hope to instil a level of critical thinking into the wee imaginations now and help them to use this to their advantage as they progress through education.
The week will be fun, energetic for the imagination, and colourful with language. The premises is perfect as we will have a writing area, a reading area, and a beautiful garden area where I hope the children will gets lots of natural inspiration for their writing.camp pic
At the end of the week I will publish a piece of each childs writing over future days and weeks here on Craic on Muff and North West Culture.
A writers goodie bag will be presented to each child on completion of the summer camp.
If you think your child is a budding writer or just enjoys playing with words, why not check out this camp. It might be the beginning of a life of stories……
