The Phantom Tree Chopper of Moville
One of the line of trees on the main road up by the square has been chopped down in the dead of the night. The garda have been called in and Martin Farren is said to be furious.
It’s the one up by Ulster Bank and the chip shop Biddy’s (ex – The Point).
It’s thought that there may have been some confusion and that a council worker had been told that Ulster Bank was downsizing and the branch there had to go.
It is to hoped that the garda have twigged what has been going on. If they catch the culprits it is to be hoped that they turn over a new leaf.
If the garda here can’t solve the tree mystery themselves, they will probably call in Special Branch to see what they can do.
Perhaps it’s just another sign of Government cuts.
