Good first day at BeatlesFest on the Lough
BeatlesFest
It was a good start to the 8th annual BeatlesFest on the Lough in Moville and Redcastle.
There was a good turnout at the Redcastle to see Michael Thomas play. I counted around 70 people.
We went up afterwards to Rosatos where there were a similar number or maybe slightly more to see Matt Whoriskey play.
Most Covered
John Peel once said that the Beatles are the most covered band of all time with Yesterday the most covered song of all time but despite that you could count on the fingers of one hand the cover versions that were better than the originals.
However, Matt Whoriskey put a few great versions of Beatles songs up for critical assessment.
During his break a couple of guys from Derry got up to play and were well received.
It was an excellent start to the festival and tonight should be even better.
