Upgrade Programme

Following the recent fabric upgrade of houses in O’Gara Villas and Foyle View Crescent Donegal County Council has commenced a new upgrade programme in Ard na Guille Duibh.

Phase 1 of the programme will involve 25 houses with Phase 2, for 31 houses, to follow fairly quickly afterwards.
The Fabric Upgrade Programme includes loft and cavity wall insulation, attic and room ventilation and the installation of chimney draught dampers and carbon monoxide alarms.

Radon monitoring systems will also be installed in selected areas.

Martin Farren
Welcoming the resumption of the upgrade programme Labour councillor, Martin Farren, congratulated County Council Housing Department staff on their continued success in drawing down funding to keep this much needed programme going on.
“150 houses have been completed to date and work is ongoing within the Housing Department to continue the roll-out of this important scheme to all of the Council’s housing stock”.
“As a result of this programme hundreds of Council tenants will now enjoy warmer, healthier homes and reduced heating costs. This is an another important programme for the Council and its tenants.

“Labour Minister Jan O’Sullivan has just announced funding of €1.5 million to finish 8 ghost estates in Donegal and will be introducing legislation which will allow for better management of local authority housing stock, reduce backlogs of vacant houses and introduce a new system of Housing Assistance Payment.”
“If re-elected to the Council I will continue to work hard to see these important Labour policies for social housing optimised for Inishowen.”
