Update on repairs to Moville/Greencastle shore paths.
Councillor Martin Farren has been advised that the first tranche of funding for repairs to the storm-damaged shore paths has been received from the Office of Public Works.
A contractor has been appointed by the County Council to complete the repairs and the contractor and Council engineers will be conducting preliminary site visits shortly to organise and prioritise the repair works. Priority will be given to the Sli na Slainte portion of the walkway.
It is hoped to have the works commencing within 3 weeks.

Welcoming the progress the Moville Labour councillor said, “I would like to thank the Council staff for working with me to keep this project on the move and to thank local landowners who have agreed to give access through their property to the contractor to allow for a speedy conclusion to the repair programme in advance of our summer season.
“In particular I would like to thank the local Community Employment Scheme workers who have done a great job in getting the walkways ready for the final repairs. They have done a magnificent job of clearing away the ravages of the storms and of opening sections of the walk to the public again so quickly.
“I have been emphasising the importance of our coastal walks for our community and visitors to Council staff and will be encouraging them to get the contractor on site as quickly as possible.”
