Community spirit alive in Muff with the fun run/walk!
A great community spirit was very much alive in Muff this morning at the 5k fun run/walk. From 10am, people gathered for registration. Young and old, they just kept on coming. A final 163 participants took part earlier today in the first 5k for the local park. This will now surely be an annual event for the village.
The juvenile race got underway at 10.30am and a large number of kids lined up. From the very young to teenagers, this proved a fun and eventful event. Patricia Lynch won the juvenile race comfortably.
The adults got underway at 11am with an outstanding performance by Marc Wallace. Marc cruised the 5k and finished as fresh as he started. Coming across the line in just over 17 minutes, this chap was just a little ahead of the crowd.
A huge shout out must definitely go to the Couch to 5k gang for their excellent performance today. Gerard and Seanan have done an excellent job in encouraging exercise and promoting it via Zest.
Well done to everyone involved in the day and the grand total raised for the play park will be announced next week.
