Is Majella Doherty the Best Chef in Ulster?

The Restaurants Association of Ulster are going to have their annual awards ceremony called The Irish Restaurant Awards 2014 next Tuesday.
One of the restaurants being nominated is Moville’s own Rosatos which has won several awards before, including Best Traditional Pub and the Sunday World’s Pub Spy’s Irish Pub of the Year 2010.
The Irish Restaurant Award 2014 is being run in conjunction with the Sunday Independent Life magazine.

Eddie Harkin has been nominated as the Best Restaurant Manager in Ulster. It would be a fitting award if he got it.
Nominated for Best Chef in Ulster is Majella Doherty.
Wouldn’t that be a huge award both for herself and Rosatos if Majella won that award?
Imagine being able to call yourself the Best Chef in Ulster with a certificate to prove it.
She would have to get her own Wikipedia Page.
Only 4 or 5 people in Moville have their own Wikipedia page, including John Hume, Brian Friel and Art Parkinson (not bad for a 12-year-old).

They have been nominated for a total of 8 awards – which is astonishing.
This is the Irish Restaurants’ equivalent of the Oscars.
Eddie’s nomination would be for the equivalent of Best Picture and Majella’s the equivalent of Best Director.

– Best Casual Dining
– Best Gastro Pub
– Best Customer Service
– Best Wine Experience
– Best Kids Size Meal
Just One Would Do
It would be astonishing if they won just one of these awards and stuck the certificate up on the wall to go with the increasing number of others.
Even if they got an honorary mention for one or two of them that would be great.
But just imagine of they won one of them – especially one of the major ones like Best Restaurant, Best Chef or Best Restaurant Manager.
That would be amazing.

Kealy’s Restaurant in Greencastle has always been highly rated and won many awards.
Now, it looks as if Moville’s Rosatos, and all those involved preparing and serving food and drinks, are getting the recognition they richly deserve.
