€36, 000 allocated to complete Greencastle road repairs.

Donegal County Council has allocated €36,000 to resurface the Poundtown road, from the Crossroads to the Fishery College.

Announcing the allocation, Labour councillor, Martin Farren, said that the funding had been negotiated at the recent Road Services workshop in Carndonagh and was scheduled to commence fairly soon.

The works will be done by council staff and will not be going out to tender.

Church Brae

“Earlier this year €100,000 was spent re-aligning and resurfacing  the Drumaweir and Church Brae sections of the road and this further allocation should see the job completed.

“The Poundtown road is in poor condition at present but a series of  water main bursts over recent years has delayed repairs. I would hope that resurfacing works can be done before the summer”, he said.

Storm Damage

“The tenders for repairs to the storm damaged Moville / Greencastle shore paths have now been received by the Council so decisions should be made shortly on the division of repairs between the contracted sections and repairs to be done by the local Community Employment schemes very shortly.

“I would like to commend the local CE schemes on the repair and holding works they have done to the shore paths already .

“These paths are a valuable asset to locals and tourists and I will be keeping pressure on the council to have remedial works started as soon as possible”
