Rosatos Gala Weekend
Kevin Brown, from the duo Bulrush, who ae scheduled to play in Rosatos on the Sunday night of the Gala Opening Weekend, wasn’t able to make it.
That’s no problem for Ryan who organises a lot of gigs and festivals in Derry. He replaced him for the night with Noelle Hatton.
I did some checking and found that she’d played in front of 30,000 people at the Lilith Fair in 1999 in the Pasadena Rose Bowl the weekend after USA had won the Women’s World Cup in soccer there – so even an enhanced Rosatos won’t throw her.

Others playing there, in the all-women cast, were Sarah McLaughlin, Sheryl Crow, The Pretenders and the Dixie Chicks amongst others.
It is a great coup to get her. Ryan knows everyone in Derry and everyone knows him. I met him a couple of times about the DylanFest and it took us ages to get anywhere as everyone kept stopping him.
Soul Cafe
Even when we went into the Soul Cafe and went out the back to sit there it was hard to discuss anything as people kept coming over and sitting down to talk to him. I was thinking “If I hear ‘Hi Ryan’ one more time….”
So, Ryan must have swung it to get Noelle here. According to Ryan she’s a fantastic singer.
I wonder if she does a Dylan set…..
