Wild Winter

It has been such a wild winter that people have just been trying to survive it rather than thinking of spring. The shore walk took a terrible battering and €70,000 worth of damage was done to it – not even including the most recent beating that it got in February.

So, you might be surprised that it is only 9 days till March, which is generally considered the start of spring, although it doesn’t officially start till March 21st.

I overheard someone say that they had seen their first bud on a tree. Springs seems a little late this year but it shouldn’t be too long before we see the daffodils and crocuses come up.

Better to Come

The worst of the winter is probably over, and although there may be further storms, the worst part of the year is mostly behind us and the best part of the year is still to come.

Things will gradually get better and we will see the buds on the trees and bushes start to come up soon.

Let’s hope spring is here soon and that this year’s summer is as good as last year’s one.
