Allsops are doing one of their auctions this month like the one where the Caiseal Mara sold for just €175,000.

There’s a number of bargains but the pub in Belturbet in County Cavan strikes me as one at a steal of €25,000. I would presume that includes the licence as well.

They used to sell for up to €200,000. Indeed one Moville pub sold its licence, I’m told, for €180,000 to someone down the country.

There’s also a bookmakers next door thrown in as well – and all for 25 grand.

So, at one fell swoop you could become a pub owner and a bookie at the same time.

A few years ago you couldn’t have bought anything for that.
