It’s official – Coffee helps your memory
Coffee drinkers always knew it but now scientific evidence has proved it correct. Drinking coffee aids your memory – and not just in the short-term.
A study by researchers at John Hopkins university in America are claiming that their’s is the first scientific study to prove that drinking coffee has a direct effect on long-term memory.
According to a researcher:-
“We showed them pictures on a computer screen and we asked them to make a simple decision whether these pictures were indoor pictures or outdoor pictures. It didn’t really matter what the picture was or what they said, we just wanted to get them engaged in a task and sort of encode these images.
“We wanted them to learn these images without actually telling them it is going to be a memory test afterwards and then we either gave them a caffeine pill, 200 milligrams of caffeine, or a placebo and we sent them on their merry way.â€
they then gave them a surprise test the next day. Some of the images were the ones from he previous day but some were new but similar. Those without the caffeine tended to say that the images were the same whether those with caffeine more likely to say that the images were similar but not the same.
the caffeine was administered after the experiment but before the test so it shows that it wasn’t a short-term enhancement.
So, here you have it!
Coffee is good for your long-term memory.
I don’t drink it.
Maybe I should!
