I see that the number of unemployed has fallen from 4,383 in June to 3,918 in November.

Of course, as we all know, these are completely meaningless figures.

My nephew, who left to find work in New Zealand last month, will be one of those who came off the register.

A more meaningful figure would be the number of people in employment. If that gets published at all it is certainly not given the same prominence as the unemployment figures.

The numbers of people leaving the country would be another useful figure.
