The bad weather today caused havoc throughout the peninsula but nowhere more so than Carndonagh. Their Christmas Tree blew over in the gale.

Perhaps it is an omen. Maybe the Carndonagh soothsayers should be brought out to tell us what it means – to gaze at the entrails of the tree and make a prediction.

Will it mean that Christmas will not happen in Carn?

Will it mean that something bad is going to happen in Carn over the festive period?

Does it mean that the Gods are punishing the people of Carn for past sins?

Perhaps, but most likely it just means that the tree wasn’t secured tightly enough.

Update

I’m now told that the storm snapped the Christmas Tree in two. It’s now been carted off. One hopes that they manage to find another one at late notice otherwise it won’t be the same in town.
