Craic On

Every since he was found with a cracked skull in the streets of Dublin in the early hours of the morning after the Ireland v Latvia match, Senator Jimmy Harte has been in an induced coma. He had fallen over before due to heart problems.

No Attack

It had been thought to have been an attack, at first, especially as his coat and keys were missing. However, they were later found in a pub where he had been celebrating victory with friends and family. Gardai are now satisfied that it wasn’t an attack and that he simply must have blacked out and cracked his head when going out to get a takeaway.

Tomorrow is a very big day for Jimmy as that is the day they are going to do a whole heap of tests to see what the damage is. He is still in critical condition, with a massive clot on the brain, but staff at the hospital are hopeful.

Martin Farren

He is a very close colleague of Martin Farren’s going back a long way when they were both in Fine Gael and they both left at the same time to join Labour. Martin went on to become an effective Labour Councillor. Jimmy stood for Donegal North East in the Dail in 2010 but didn’t manage to get a seat. However, he was later elected to the Seanad.

Martin was delighted as he said that this area now had an effective voice in Dublin who could put local concerns to such as Eamon Gilmore now that Labour were in Coalition Government.

Many people around the area know Jimmy and everyone will be waiting anxiously for the results and wishing him a full recovery.
