Ireland is a great place for women’s equality according to a newly published index. Only the Nordic countries and the Philippines rank higher.

The rating shows the countries where women enjoy the most equal access to education and healthcare. It is also where women are most likely to be able to participate fully in the country’s political and economic life.

That’s quite a change from prior to 1978 when Irish women who worked for the Government as nurses, teachers etc. had to retire once they got married.
