I’m very fortunate to be a part of the International Media group for Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann 2013 in Derry. Touring, dining and theater going with journalists from various parts of America, India, Netherlands, France and Brighton is proving to be an invaluable experience.

Today as we did the guided walk of the city walls it was really interesting to hear the guide explaining the connotations attached to the name of the city. Martin explained very clearly each name and as he did so many questions were posed. After much discussion and collaboration he ended the tour stating, ‘I really hope that you all leave our beautiful city and refer to it as Legenderry’. Very apt I must say.

If any of these journalists leave Derry this coming weekend and are unable to call it Legenderry, then something badly has gone wrong. This week, like the previous 7 and a half months quite simply have been Legenderry. And it will no doubt continue to be so.
