Great support for 2013 Maurice McMenamin Fun Run/Walk!
The local community turned out today to take part in the annual Maurice McMenamin fun run/walk. The weather made it a little too warm for running/walking but it was perfect for us who remained behind at the Carmans! Thank you sun! However no one failed in their fantastic efforts and young and old, grannies and grandads, kids and parents, ran and walked for charity.
As always the day proved to be a great success with everyone helping to raise funds for the two charities involved – Meningitis Research Foundation and Alzheimer’s Unit Carndonagh.
Whilst money was being raised, fun was being had. Having completed the 10k everyone was then availing of the onsite bbq. The fun continues into the night and The Yetis will be playing in The Carmans as darkness approaches. So if you’re free tonight get on down and enjoy a great night’s entertainment.
This annual event is held in memory of Maurice McMenamin. A young man who sadly lost his life to meningitis. Someone who loved life and was full of vitality. A great sportsman and someone who was loved by all who knew him. Maurice left a lasting impression on everyone he met. And this continues, especially on this annual occasion. This day is one to remember Maurice and to help others in the process.
Congratulations to Pat Gallagher on being first over the line in super time, and to young Chris O’Donnell on being home behind him in fantastic time. Well done to everyone who took part today.
