QPS win Fr O'Gara cup and end the season in style!
The lads from QPS did us proud this afternoon with an amazing 6.1 victory over Redcastle in the Fr O’Gara cup final, and the last game of the season. Under the management of Paul Hegarty the guys played their hearts out and the end result showed just how determined they really were. With goals from Dean Barron, Raymond Buchanan and Steven McCarron, the squad gave the village of Muff another reason to celebrate.
Bringing this cup back to Muff is something which is held in the highest regard by this football club. Two of the clubs most prominent members were married by Fr Tom O’Gara and this win is particularly poignant for all. Margie and Vincie McColgan were privileged to have had Fr O’Gara  officiate on their wedding day.
A large crowd came out to support the local team today and were not disappointed. Local footballing legend Brian McIvor was  present  and welcomed the squad back with the cup to Muff. Golly G who works endlessly for the club was also in attendance today. Former Mayor of Muff and QPS mascot, Liam Devlin cheered the lads on from start to finish.
Man of the match went to Oisin McCool and deservedly so. This young player has picked up his footballing talent from his mother for sure!
QPS lads are currently celebrating their win in The Squealing Pig, the local bar who sponsors the squad. The staff are at this present moment run of their little feet! A long night lies ahead!
Very well done guys and we all look forward to watching you play back in the premiership next season. ‘Oh when the Swifts…oh when the Swifts…of when the Swifts went to Maginn….’
