The John Lynch Perpetual Shield Sponsored Cycle takes place on Friday 31st May 2013. This year is the 20th anniversary and all are invited to participate. Proceeds from the night will go towards the Donegal Hospice and Foyle Hospice.
This year the cycle will leave the Squealing Pig Muff and Rawdon’s Moville at 7.15pm sharp. Cyclists are asked to meet at the two departure points for 7pm. The Muff cyclists will cycle to Rawdons and back to The Squealing Pig and Moville cyclists from Rawdons to Squealing Pig and back.
There will be a prize as always for the person with the most sponsor money. So get collecting!
Following the cycle there will be refreshments and music in The Squealing Pig and a great nights craic is guaranteed. Eugene and Golly will be strumming and singing and no doubt a bit of banter will be had too.
This cycle has been a fun event and raised much needed money over past years and this year is hoped to be bigger and better than ever. I recall the year when myself and a certain red head from Quigleys Point cycled to Moville and had a wee tipple in Rawdons…..then put the bikes in Collies van and diembarked 100 yards from the Ture Inn and cycled those few yards home….great memories! Â Some old faces are planning to return for the event this year!!!! We’ll have to wait and see just who those faces might be!!! A now French man perhaps?
All cyclists must be over 16 years of age. So get those bicycles out and and tyres pumped up in time for the 31st. If you don’t have a bike or just on the lazy side, come along on the night and give your support. Come out along the route and cheer the cyclists on. A memorable night will certainly be had.
