Except for Tony Bramwell the judges will be different tonight in Rosatos for the final. However, we’ll let you know which tunes the judges last night liked best.

Tony Bramwell gave his top mark to A Warm Hand by Sean O’Neil from Dublin. Closely behind were The Truth by Kevin Brown from Derry, Donegal Dream by Paul Herron from Derry and I’ll Remember You by Shirley Clark from Dublin. He also like Liquid Confidence by Laura Bonner, Fields of Horses by Gareth McLaughlin and The Water’s Edge by Paul Herron.

Gerry McLaughlin gave his top marks to Won’t Let You Down by Jack Craig from Derry and The Water’s Edge by Paul Herron. Very closely behind he had Kick’n Beat by Greencastle’s Laura Bonner and then About a Cow by Moville’s James O’Donnell and Donegal Dream by Paul Herron. Buncrana’s John Bradley’s Won’t You save Me and Laura Bonner’s Liquid Confidence were just behind that.

Over from Scotland for the Songwriter Contest was Gerry Greene who gave his top mark of 10 to Kevin Brown’s The Truth and then Ryan O’Dochertaigh’s Risky Business sung by Kevin Brown. Both are from Derry. Next best for him were Jack Craig’s Won’t Let You Down, Laura Bonner’s Kick’n Beat, Donegal Dream by Paul Herron and About a Cow by James O’Donnell.

Brian Barr was the strictest of the markers and punished any mistakes severely. However, he gave his top mark of 8 to Fields of Horses by Gareth McLaughlin from Derry, Kick’n Beat by Laura Bonner, About a Cow by James O’Donnell, Won’t Let You Down by Jack Craig and The Truth by Kevin Brown. He had Donegal Dream by Paul Herron and Risky Business by Ryan O’Dochertaigh on 7 points.

Caoimhinn Barr was far less strict than his father and gave marks of 10 to A Warm Hand by Sean O’Neill, Donegal Dream by Paul Herron, Won’t Let You Down by Jack Craig and The Truth by Kevin Brown. He allotted 9 points to both of Laura Bonner’s songs Kick’n Beat and Liquid Confidence.

As you can see the tastes were very varied and every single song that got through was mentioned in at least one of the judges’ top markings. Tony Bramwell gave his 2nd top mark to Sean O’Neill’s Too Many Funerals – and it didn’t even get through.

It’s got the makings of a great final tonight – and it will be a different set of judges tonight.
